A New Mission Back Home After six years in the warm heart of Africa, getting used to the new Adventist Hymnal that came out just after we arrived in 1985, we returned to settle in Fletcher, North Carolina. Once again I was back in the ER at Park Ridge Hospital and attending the Arden Adventist church. It was there in the ER that my career took another unexpected turn. I crossed paths with a Loma Linda nurse on a mission to save our Adventist Health System from losing hospitals like the one I had to ditch back in 1984. She took one look at the pocket PC I had programmed to do my ER visits and hired me on the spot. The year was 1992. I would spend the next 22 years combining my programming and clinical skills into a solution that would help keep our hospitals from closing their doors. We moved to Atlanta and then to Talking Rock as we hunkered down for the terrifying Y2K event. There we began attending the Jasper Seventh-day Adventist Church and discovered more thirsty and serious Bible students. A small group fomed for fellowship and feeding on the Word after the sermon each week.
