1980 Dallas General Conference I somehow missed all the excitement in 1980. I was preoccupied with starting my first steps into medical practice in the deep dark mission field of East Tennessee. Too busy to pay any attention to just another General Conference. I had never attended one before, so let the ministers and officers and presidents and delegates attend. I was engaged in waging warfare in the trenches, doing battle with Jehovah Witnesses at the hospital. Proving to them that Jesus was not just another angel, but the second member of the Godhead! That was rock-solid proof that He was most certainly divine, worthy of worship, and the Creator of all things, after all.Behold Your God In Mountain City, Tennessee my mother sent me a copy of the book "Behold Your God" by Fred Wright in Australia. I was overjoyed to discover such an extensive amount of beautiful evidence that God truly is a loving Father who gives all His creatures freedom to choose for themselves even though the consequences may be grim and dire and not His will nor desire. The many devastating stories in the Old Testament of cruel destruction and wholesale loss of life had raised serious questions in my mind about the character of God. But here was an entirely different view and I found myself falling in love with the Father all over again.
